What is Hosting? 

Your live website requires space on a special internet connected computer (web server).  All of your web pages, documents, images, and specialized files are stored on this server and made available to your visitors through a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.  This is known as 'Hosting' and there are many companies out there that offer incredible deals at very low costs.  However, not all of these offers can provide the services you may want for your website.

Hosting Alone is Not Enough.  You need a Web Address (Domain Name).

In order for your website to work you need to have a registered website address.  This is known by several names: URL (Uniform Resource Locater), Domain Name, or Web Address.  Registration of your domain name must be done through an international naming service known as ICAAN and must be renewed on an annual basis.  The cost to do this varies depending on the company used to perform the registration. Once you have a domain name established you will need to 'tell' the world where to find your web pages.  This is done by 'pointing' you domain name to the host of your website.

Don't forget about E-mail, Site Searching, Shopping Carts, Site Reports, and all the Extras!
